What is this medication?

FLURANDRENOLIDE (flure an DREN oh lide) is a steroid. It is used on the skin to reduce swelling, redness, itching, and allergic reactions.

This medicine may be used for other purposes; ask your health care provider or pharmacist if you have questions.

What should I tell my care team before I take this medication?

They need to know if you have any of these conditions:

• diabetes (high blood sugar)
• large areas of burned or damaged skin
• skin infection
• thinning or wrinkling of the skin
• an unusual or allergic reaction to flurandrenolide, other steroids, other medicines, foods, dyes, or preservatives
• pregnant or trying to get pregnant
• breast-feeding

How should I use this medication?

This medicine is for external use only. Do not take by mouth. Follow the directions on the prescription label. Remove tape from the package and cut (never tear) a piece of tape slightly larger than the area that is to be covered. Round off the tape corners before application. Pull white paper away from the transparent tape. Apply the tape to the affected areas that are clean and dry. Press tape into place while keeping the skin smooth. It is important not to use more medicine than prescribed. Do not use your medicine more often than directed.

Talk to your pediatrician regarding the use of this medicine in children. While this drug may be prescribed for selected conditions, precautions do apply.

Elderly patients are more likely to have damaged skin through aging, and this may increase side effects. This medicine should only be used for short periods and infrequently in older patients.

Overdosage: If you think you have taken too much of this medicine contact a poison control center or emergency room at once.

What if I miss a dose?

If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you can. If it is almost time for your next dose, use only that dose. Do not use double or extra doses.

What may interact with this medication?

Interactions are not expected. Do not use any other skin products without telling your health care provider.

What should I watch for while using this medication?

Visit your health care provider for regular checks on your progress. Tell your health care provider if your symptoms do not start to get better or if they get worse.

Call your health care provider if you are around anyone with measles, chickenpox, or if you develop sores or blisters that do not heal properly.

This medicine can damage and reduce the effect of latex-containing products such as condoms and diaphragms. Avoid contact of this medicine with latex-containing products; throw away any products that are exposed to this medicine.

Do not use this medicine for diaper rash unless directed to do so by your health care provider. If applying this medicine to the diaper area, do not cover with tight-fitting diapers or plastic pants. This may increase the amount of medicine that passes through the skin and increase the risk of serious effects.

What side effects may I notice from receiving this medication?

Side effects that you should report to your doctor or health care provider as soon as possible:

• allergic reactions (skin rash, itching or hives; swelling of the face, lips, or tongue)
• burning, itching, crusting, peeling of treated skin
• infection (fever, chills, cough, sore throat, pain, or trouble passing urine)
• thinning or wrinkling of the skin

Side effects that usually do not require medical attention (report to your doctor or health care provider if they continue or are bothersome):

• dry skin
• excessive hair growth on face or body in females

Where should I keep my medication?

Keep out of the reach of children and pets.

Store at room temperature between 20 and 25 degrees C (68 and 77 degrees F). Keep this drug in the original container. Protect from moisture. Keep the container tightly closed. Throw away any unused drug after the expiration date.
